When tackling such a stressful issue like choosing a hair color, chances are you won’t be choosing brown or chocolate, but a more daring hue like either blonde or red. However, colorist Marie Robinson who takes care of Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman’s tresses debunks the myth according to which brown is never a fashionable choice.
Moreover, the colorist mentions that making your chocolate hair two shades darker or lighter allows you to keep it natural and enhancing the color will get you more appraisal than going to extremes.
Beach brown with soft highlights is a good choice if you have short hair, but the trick is not to lighten it too much as the ends will look either thin or see-through. At the other extreme, caramel brown is the perfect choice for long hair. Add some golden highlights, but remember to lighten them from mid-length towards the end in order to obtain a sexy sun-kissed look.
Choose honey brown if your complexion is not as warm as you wanted, but always keep in mind not to step out of the house without either red lips or striking eyes, because this color could wash you out. For the perfect chocolate hair color, ask the colorist for natural medium brown and gold & honey highlights. However, if you want the color of your hair to simply make your eye pop try golden brown with caramel and honey highlights. This color is perfect for women with olive or pale complexion.
Chestnut brown is the easiest hair color to wear because it has the ability to warm up all types of complexion. Still, if you want to add depth to your hair color and make it look richer, add some red highlights.
If you know you can take care of your hair and not forget when it’s time to color it again, choose mahogany, a precious shade which will make you forgot you ever thought chocolate is boring. If you are a brunette, make sure to lighten the mid-length and ends two or three shades and throw in some chestnut brown highlights.
Both medium and dark ash brown are flattering if you add some caramel highlights to sweeten the color, while smoky brown is far more suitable if your skin tone is golden, olive or dark and all you want is to offer your complexion a beautiful frame.
Always keep in mind that black is for women with olive complexions, but if you really want to make a change, try gradually implementing it. Your hair will thank you and your hair color will look natural.
